At Kansas Gastroenterology, we are dedicated to the patient experience, including quality and satisfaction. We are currently seeking a New Patient Scheduler to join our well-established GI clinic and Endoscopy Center. Characteristics of a successful candidate will include demonstrated quality patient care, an advocate of a positive patient experience, commitment to achieving performance measures, high level of energy and self-motivation, and a dependable professional with a desire to work in a team setting. Your responsibilities will include:

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Schedules new patient consults and screening procedures via phone or faxed information
  2. Works directly with the patient and/or family to coordinate scheduled procedures
  3. Interacts with the hospital and other facilities to coordinate procedures
  4. Electronically enters information in the patient record
  5. Review patient instructions with the patient/family
  6. Greets all patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner
  7. Completes check in process for arriving patients
  8. Secures accurate and updated patient information at each appointment
  9. Verifies patient billing and insurance information
  10. Verifies referral authorization from primary care provider is appropriate for appointment
  11. Responsible for collection of patient co-pays, outstanding payments, and obligations
  12. Informs appropriate department of patient’s arrival
  13. Reschedules patients according to cancellations of providers’ schedule
  14. Answer calls and provide pertinent information as instructed
  15. Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients
  16. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics
  17. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies
  18. Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice/instructions
  19. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor
  20. Maintains clean and orderly waiting area
  21. Provides customer service while answering incoming calls
  22. Screens all calls and directs appropriately to providers, other medical personnel, administrator, or support staff
  23. Follows patient confidentiality policy
  24. Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times
  25. Adhere to employer work practices
  26. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and coworkers
  27. Effectively cope with typical job stress
  28. Document work processes as required
  29. Perform other duties as assigned

Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)

Experience: Minimum three years of recent experience working in a medical facility
