Job Overview

 

  • The Program Director is responsible for researching, planning, developing and implementing the Community Voice program.
  • The Program Director will research develop and plan outreach programs that promote Community Voice and contribute to its overall success. This includes all procedures, deadlines and reviewing budgets that must be adhered to.
  • The Program Director must maintain knowledge of the laws, regulations and contract requirements that pertain to the organization’s operations and ensure that the program acts within these requirements.
  • This position provides managerial, strategic planning, and professional support by supervising, assessing, screening and training all staff personnel; preparing, reviewing, monitoring and maintaining appropriate program reports; ensuring the agency and its staff are in compliance with funding institutions; general day-to-day operations of the agency.

 

Essential Functions

 

1.       Hire, train and be a motivating mentor to staff.

 

2.       Lead large group discussions to answer questions and remedy complaints.

 

3.       Create and nurture effective communication within the organization.

 

4.       Build a strong team through open communication and by collaborating on decision-making responsibilities.

 

5.       Initiate and set goals for program based on the organization’s strategic objectives.

 

6.       Assist with planning and identifying processes, deadlines and milestones from start to finish.

 

7.       Program Director will develop a plan to engage CV Lay Health Advisors after graduating from the program. CV staff will assist in the development of the plan and will meet with the Program Director to discuss its implementation

 

 

8.       Program Director will meet monthly with CV Male Lay Health Educators to review their progress in increasing male involvement in the program and to assist with eliminating any barriers to the program’s progress.  The goal is to develop a strategic plan for male recruitment and retention as well as showcase how male involvement can lead to better birth outcomes.

 

9.       Program Director will develop a training model to enhance utilizing CV Lay Health Advisors after graduation. The training will prepare “select” graduates to represent the program at health fairs and other public venues. The Program Director will work closely with the CV Lay Health Educators who will recommend highly motivated graduates for the training program.

 

10.   Program Director will work with staff on enhancing the quarterly meetings. The goal is to attract a greater number of graduates and provide more intensive training during these sessions. Additionally, the Program Director will assist in inviting guest speakers to the meetings in order to inform the graduates about the various services provided by the Healthy Beginnings System, of which Community Voice is a component.

 

11.   Program Director will examine ways to engage graduates in programs throughout the community, where their experience with Community Voice will be an asset in some form of governance. For example, graduates might be interested in serving on the Community Action Group, which is an advisory arm of the newly created Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR).

 

12.   Program Director will serve as a liaison between CSC and the Sickle Cell Foundation by participating on ad-hoc committees, which deal with infant mortality, community engagement and other issues.

 

13.   Program Director will work with CSC to develop a new marketing plan for Community Voice. This will include maintaining supplies such as pens, t-shirts, bags and other promotional items. This will also include collaborating with the CSC marketing department on the placement of advertising highlighting the Community Voice program through billboards, bus placards, etc.

 

14.   Program Director will attend Community Voice graduations and lend support to the CV Lay Health Educators when needed. Additionally, the program Director conduct public speaking engagements as well as training graduates to do the same as part of intensifying the Community Voice outreach into the community.

 

15.   Program Director will submit to the CEO by the 5th of each month a detailed report of the activities conducted during the month to include the names, dates, times of all meetings and contacts.

 

Minimum Qualifications

·      Minimum qualifications for this position are a BA/BS or equivalent four (4) year degree, or at least four (4) years management experience adhering to compliance requirements.  Incumbents must have strong oral and written communication skills; and strong analysis, planning, organizing and decision-making skills.
