Our beautiful Beginnings Birth Center is a freestanding birth center located in Colorado Springs, CO. We are seeking a 0.9 FTE Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team who has a strong interest and passion for women’s healthcare. The ideal candidate is motivated, dedicated, and has a strong desire to provide world-class patient care. Mom/Baby (postpartum), NICU, and/or Emergency Room experience is highly preferred but not required. The RN is responsible for assisting the CNMs in caring for families as a Birth Assistant during births and may also assist the CNMs during clinic office hours.

Schedule: 0.9 FTE RN | 2 eight-hour office days, 3 twelve-hour call shifts per week the majority of weeks. Two hours are built into every week's salary for coverage of call shifts covering if a team member is sick, on vacation, or otherwise shorter staffed is expected (there will be varying weeks that 4 twelve-hour call shifts are expected).
QUALIFICATIONS
● Minimum of 6+ months RN experience (required).
● Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or a state that is part of the Nursing Licensure Compact.
● Experienced in prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal care.
● Certified in BLS and NRP.
LINES OF AUTHORITY
Ultimately responsible to the Birth Center Clinical Director (CNM Director) and functions at each birth under the direct supervision of the Staff CNMs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Participates in direct patient care.
● Performs skills as listed on the RN Skills Checklist found in the employee’s EHR profile.
● Keeps a cell phone in working condition, notifies the Manager of any contact information changes, and always keeps a cell phone on-hand while a patient is admitted to the birth center in case of emergency.
● Appropriately trained Registered Nurses may conduct Orientation sessions.
● Assist with office flow, answering phones, and scheduling during office hours.
● Answer and triage client portal messages, texts and telephone questions and document conversations during office hours.
● Review incoming faxes and labs and ultrasounds, assign to appropriate patient charts, communicate with clients via patient portal on lab results and follow ups needed, tag CNMs as appropriate for out-of-range lab work or other test results.
● Send patient referrals as delegated by CNMs.
● Performs chart audits and birth reviews and provides summary for team meetings.
● Participate in office, clinic, and birth center routine cleaning and restocking.
● Attends regularly scheduled monthly staff meetings. Excused absences include on call shifts worked overnight, attending a birth, PTO or sick time.
● Participates in continuous quality improvement activities including emergency drills (at least 3 of 4 annual trainings and at least 4/12 monthly drills) and in-service programs.
● Participates in continuous quality improvement activities including emergency drills, in-service programs, and peer review.
● Participates in at least one professional organization locally or nationally and reports back to Beginnings Birth Center Team
● Participates in or creates at least 1 birth center community outreach activity per year and reports back to Beginnings Birth Center Team.
● Serves as a liaison/participant between Beginnings Birth Center and one local organization per year and reports back to Beginnings Birth Center Team.
● Perform any other duties assigned by Birth Center Clinical Director or Manager.
● Assigned as behind-the-scenes (BTS) RN on a rotational basis responsible for assisting in management aspects of RN staff including staffing schedules, orientation, training/drills, chart reviews of prospective clients wishing to transfer into care, reviewing orders and results in EHR dashboard to ensure tests or results have not been missed, and acting as a point of contact for communication with the Clinical Director.
● Assigned as the Resource RN on a rotational basis responsible for finding coverage or making plans for RNs who call in sick or need to take short notice time-off. Helps coordinate RN call shift coverage and contingency plans for RNs who call in sick or need to take short notice time-off.

● The employee must be able to use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
