Job Description

Accounting Assistant is needed for the accounting department in a well-established construction company. We are looking for a pleasant, self-directed, and professional person. Attention to detail and follow-through are essential qualities, as well as, the ability to manage shifting priorities.  Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills are keys to success in this position.

Previous work experience in residential construction is preferred, experience working with multiple legal entities and intercompany accounts preferred, bonus points for Sage 100 or BuilderTrend experience. We will be training you on the processes that we follow.

Job duties:

·         Invoice processing and vendor management

·         Reconcile check runs and process payments to vendors

·         Manage monthly utility invoices and payments

·         Reconcile loans and process monthly interest accruals and payments

·         General ledger and budget variance analysis

·         Monthly journal entries, reports, and reconciliations

·         Assist with financial statement preparation for multiple entities

·         Process and record construction loan draws

·         Property taxes and annual 1099 processing

·         Answering phones, running errands, data entry, filing, and other office duties and projects as assigned.

·         Able to prioritize competing tasks, communicate effectively and meet deadlines

·         Be flexible and proactive by requesting projects or identifying needs of the firm

We work hard, take pride in our work, and have a good time doing it. The office is business casual in the Sumner/Puyallup area. This is a full-time position working in the office. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm. Salary range is $28-32/hr DOE.

Qualifications and Education Requirement

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of previous accounts payable experience required
  • Must be a self-starter who is detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities
  • Must have good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to use general office equipment such as telephone, fax machine, scanner and copier
  • Professional oral and written communication skills and excellent phone presence
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
  • Projecting a caring, friendly attitude while maintaining a professional presence
  • Ability and desire to continually improve skills
  • Interest in continually examining processes for better efficiency and effectiveness
