Senior Mining Engineer

Lehigh Engineering, LLC, is seeking a skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at our office in Pottsville, PA. This position will oversee engineering and mine planning efforts for several Anthracite surface mines and will conduct research and feasibility studies for potential new mine sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in surface mining operations, proficiency in AutoCAD or related mine planning software, and a proven track record of successful project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and optimization of surface mining operations, including pit layouts, haul roads, and infrastructure.

• Identification and feasibility evaluation of potential new mine sites using historical mapping and surveys, test drilling, etc.

• Oversee permitting and compliance efforts at designated mine sites.

• Utilizing AutoCAD and Carlson Modeling software to create detailed mine plans and models.

• Monitoring and optimizing mining operations to ensure efficiency and safety.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including geologists, environmental engineers, and mine operators.

• Providing technical support and guidance to field personnel.

Required Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in surface mining operations.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD or other mine planning software.

• Familiarity with GIS software and remote sensing techniques.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Familiarity with GIS software and remote sensing techniques.
