Environmental Permitting Technician

Lehigh Engineering, LLC, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Permitting Technician to join our team at our office in Pottsville, PA. This position will be primarily focused on preparing Surface Mining Permits (SMP’s), NPDES permits, and other DEP permits for both affiliated companies and external clients. This role involves working closely with regulatory agencies, conducting research, and compiling technical data to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist preparation and submission of permit applications for mining operations.
• Lead the preparation and submission of NPDES permits and other DEP permits for land development projects.
• Conduct research to gather data on environmental regulations, land use policies, and permit requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and environmental specialists to gather technical information necessary for permit applications.
• Provide mine plans, technical reports, and presentation, which will be communicated to the operational team.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to permit applications and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in site inspections and environmental assessments as needed.

 

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field. Preferred but not required.
• Previous experience, or strong interest working in a regulatory or permitting environment preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
