The Claims Specialist's main responsibilities include processing claims, working with adjusters to process  settlements, verify insurance coverage, review insurance cases, create xactimates, work with Sales to supplement as needed, keeping customers updated throughout the claims process. This person will determine covered insurance losses by studying provisions of a policy or certificate and will document specific claims by completing and recording forms, reports, logs, and records. 

 

Core Responsibilities:  

 

  • Analyze and investigate complicated insurance claims to help prevent fraud.
  • Work with adjustors to process settlements.
  • Uphold relationships and communication with insurance adjusters and clients.
  • Organize and present claim review plans.
  • Stay up to date on local, state, and federal law changes in the insurance field and state and local laws.
  • Know and understand the Ohio Revised State and Residential Code.
  • Work in collaboration with assigned Sales Representative associated with the claim.
  • Resolve claims in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma (OR) GED Equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, preferred.
  • Know and understand basic insurance policies, coverages, principles, and laws.
  • (2+) Years of Home Improvement Industry experience, preferred.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • Completed at least Level 1 Xactimate training and is up to date with the current software.
  • Critical thinking skills are needed in order to evaluate complex claims and make independent decisions based on data given.
  • MS Office Proficiency.
  • Must be dependable, maintain regular attendance and be punctual.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Must be able to work independently and also within a team setting.
