Senior Mechanical Engineer – Machine Design

 

 

At ACS Industries, we manufacture key components for noble industries including vehicle safety, clean air exhaust, and now, green energy. We are the world’s largest vertically integrated metal mesh manufacturer and the global leader in pyrotechnic airbag inflator filters. We also offer a wide array of exhaust components to both Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers.

 

ACS is now leveraging our expertise to support the burgeoning Green Energy industry and has partnered with some of the world’s largest Green Hydrogen producers. ACS designs and produces anodes, cell components, stack hardware, and assemblies of PEM, Alkaline and Solid Oxide Electrolyzers, using our scale, experience, and continuously improving process efficiency to drive down the cost of hydrogen production. Our world-class R&D and Engineering teams are continuously adding to our green energy portfolio in order to keep pace with this fast-moving young industry.

 

As we expand our team to take on these new projects, you will be responsible for leading mechanical machine designs from concept to completion, with a focus on automation, cost reduction, and defect elimination.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Work directly with VP of R&D and other team members to conceptualize and design net-new manufacturing machines as ACS expands into new markets and improves our existing product line capabilities. Machines may include enhanced knitting, weaving and expanding machines.

·       Lead complex mechanical engineering projects from initiation to delivery, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, prototyping, testing, and implementation. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

·       Design, develop and test mechanical systems and components to improve product performance, reliability and reduce costs.

·       Develop and implement automated solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase productivity.

·       Independently monitor project timelines and budgets to ensure milestones are met.

·       Identify and eliminate defects by analyzing data, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.

·       Ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards, including health and safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

·       Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

 

Required Experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

·       Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on industrial machine design and development, and project management.

·       Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, design, and manufacturing processes.

·       Experience in automation and robotics is highly desirable.

·       Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.

·       Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
