Metro Public Safety has a current openings in the area of Kansas City.

The armed security officer would be responsible for the safety and security of the clients property and the welfare of the staff and customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Security Patrol: Conduct regular patrols of the designated area, which may include commercial properties, government facilities, residential complexes, or events.
  • Deterrence: Deter unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities through a visible and vigilant presence.
  • Access Control: Control and monitor entry and exit points, ensuring that only authorized personnel or visitors gain access.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, such as alarms, disturbances, or incidents, and take appropriate action, including contacting law enforcement if necessary.
  • Report Writing: Maintain detailed and accurate records by documenting incidents, activities, and observations in written reports.
  • Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients, employees, and visitors, providing information and assistance when needed.
  • Observation: Continuously monitor the environment for suspicious activities, safety hazards, or policy violations.
  • Security Equipment: Operate and maintain security equipment such as firearms, communication devices, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems.
  • Crisis Management: Handle crisis situations with calmness, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Legal Compliance: Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to armed security, including firearm licensing and use-of-force guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Firearms Training: Possession of a valid firearms permit or license and successful completion of firearms training courses, including range qualification.
  • Licensing: Depending on the jurisdiction, candidates may need to obtain a state-issued armed security guard license.
  • Background Check: Pass a comprehensive background check, which may include criminal history, drug screening, and fingerprinting.
  • Physical Fitness: Maintain good physical health and fitness, as security officers may need to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for reporting incidents and interacting with others.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to think critically and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations is crucial.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Display professionalism, patience, and diplomacy when dealing with diverse individuals and potentially contentious situations.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to stay up-to-date on security protocols and procedures.
  • Reliability: Punctuality and a strong sense of responsibility are vital for this role.

Armed security officers play a critical role in maintaining safety and security in various settings. They must balance their authority with the need for restraint, always prioritizing the protection of people and property while adhering to legal and ethical standards.

Requirements include but are not limited to the following:

Must own an approved pistol in the caliber of 9mm, 40SW or 45 ACP

Sub-compact pistols do not meet this requirement.

Three magazines for the pistol are also required

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up to 9 hours

Must own or able to produce required duty gear.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
