The primary role of the armed security specialist is to ensure the protection and safety of the client's premises, as well as the well-being of employees and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Surveillance: Perform routine inspections of assigned locations, which may encompass commercial establishments, governmental sites, residential areas, or events.
  • Prevention: Prevent unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, and other unlawful activities through a strong and attentive presence.
  • Entry Management: Regulate and oversee access points, confirming that only authorized individuals or guests are permitted entry.
  • Emergency Management: React promptly to emergencies, such as alarms or disturbances, and take necessary actions, including alerting law enforcement when required.
  • Documentation: Keep thorough and precise records by documenting incidents, activities, and observations in written reports.
  • Client Interaction: Engage professionally with clients, staff, and visitors, offering assistance and information as needed.
  • Monitoring: Constantly observe the surroundings for suspicious behavior, safety risks, or violations of policy.
  • Equipment Operation: Utilize and maintain security tools such as firearms, communication devices, surveillance systems, and alarm setups.
  • Crisis Handling: Manage crisis situations with composure, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding armed security, including firearm licensing and use-of-force policies.

Qualifications:

  • Firearms Certification: Must possess a valid firearms permit or license and have successfully completed firearms training courses, including range qualification.
  • Licensing Requirements: Depending on local regulations, candidates may need to secure a state-issued armed security guard license.
  • Background Verification: Successfully pass a comprehensive background check, which may include criminal history, drug screening, and fingerprinting.
  • Physical Conditioning: Maintain good physical health and fitness, as security personnel may be required to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Communication Proficiency: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for reporting incidents and interacting with others.
  • Analytical Skills: The ability to think critically and make swift decisions in high-pressure scenarios is crucial.

Armed security specialists play a pivotal role in safeguarding safety and security across various environments. They must balance their authority with the need for restraint, always prioritizing the protection of individuals and property while adhering to legal and ethical standards.

Essential Requirements:

Must possess an approved firearm in the caliber of 9mm, 40SW, or 45 ACP.

Sub-compact firearms do not meet this criterion.

Three magazines for the firearm are also necessary.

Must be capable of standing for extended periods, up to 9 hours.

Must have or be able to provide required duty gear.
