Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Welding Overhead Crane Installation and Fabrication Technician to join our team. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and fabricating overhead cranes, including welding components together using stick welding techniques, as well as some MIG welding. Your strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and ability to work at heights (up to 20 feet) will be essential in ensuring the safe and successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and assemble overhead cranes, including hoists, trolleys, and other components
  • Fabricate custom parts and components for cranes, including welding together steel plates, beams, and other materials using stick welding techniques
  • Perform MIG welding on occasion to complete specific projects or repairs
  • Inspect and test crane installations to ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and repair crane malfunctions or defects
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and regulations
  • Participate in quality control inspections to ensure conformance to specifications and standards

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in welding overhead cranes, fabrication, or a related field
  • Strong background in stick welding (SMAW) with experience using MIG welding equipment (GMAW)
  • Ability to work at heights up to 20 feet using personal fall protection equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of crane mechanics
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree in welding or a related field preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently; lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities
  • Ability to work at heights up to 20 feet using personal fall protection equipment
  • Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with frequent exposure to dust, fumes, and other hazardous materials

Work Environment:

  • Work will be performed at ground level or above ground level not exceeding 20 feet
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and other hazardous materials
  • Collaborative work environment with experienced professionals
