We are looking for a talented Unreal Engine Lead Artist to join our team and drive the artistic direction of our projects.

*This is an on-site position and will require reporting to our headquarters location in Santa Clara, CA.*

About the Role

The Unreal Engine Lead Artist will play a crucial role in both the creation of high-quality content and the direction of the artistic vision across our projects. This role involves hands-on content creation in Unreal Engine as well as leading and mentoring a team of artists to ensure cohesive and innovative visual experiences.

What You’ll Do

● Art Direction: Lead the artistic vision for our projects, ensuring consistency and quality across all visual elements.

● Content Creation: Create high-quality 3D assets, environments, and visual effects using Unreal Engine, ensuring they meet both artistic and technical standards.

● Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire a small team of artists, providing guidance and feedback to ensure the team meets project goals and deadlines.

● Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including design, programming, and production, to ensure seamless integration of art assets and maintain the artistic integrity of the project.

● Pipeline Optimization: Develop and optimize pipelines and workflows for art creation, ensuring efficiency and scalability for current and future projects.

● Innovation: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies, and implement new techniques to enhance the visual quality and efficiency of our projects.

● Problem Solving: Address and solve technical and artistic challenges, ensuring the delivery of high-quality visuals within the constraints of real-time rendering.

Requirements

Qualifications

● Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar leading role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work in Unreal Engine.

● Leadership: Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of artists, with strong communication and organizational skills.

● Technical Skills: Proficiency in Unreal Engine, 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and real-time rendering techniques. Experience with tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Substance Painter, and Photoshop is essential.

● Artistic Ability: Strong understanding of art fundamentals, including composition, color theory, lighting, and anatomy.

● Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges related to real-time art production.

● Collaboration: Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

● Passion: A deep passion for art, technology, and storytelling, with a drive to push the boundaries of what is possible in real-time graphics.

Nice To Have

● Experience with other game engines or real-time rendering software.

● Knowledge of animation, rigging, and character design.

● Experience in the game industry, VR/AR, architectural visualization
