Job Summary: The Superintendent will be responsible for managing on-site construction activities for historic restoration projects, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires a deep understanding of historic preservation techniques, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and craftsmen to bring our projects to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Management: Oversee all on-site activities for historic restoration projects, ensuring that work is carried out according to the project plans, specifications, and preservation guidelines.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and direct the work of on-site teams, including subcontractors and craftspeople, to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain strict quality control on all restoration work, ensuring that craftsmanship meets the company's high standards and adheres to historical accuracy.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules, ensuring that all project milestones are met. Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes or delays.
  • Safety Oversight: Enforce all safety protocols and regulations on the job site, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address any issues that arise during construction, working closely with the project manager to implement solutions and keep the project on track.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, architects, and inspectors, providing updates and addressing any concerns related to the construction process.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment, ensuring that all resources are available as needed to avoid delays in the construction process.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and other documentation to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in the construction industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced training or certifications in construction management, historic preservation, or related fields are preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of historic restoration techniques and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent is preferred. Additional certifications related to historic preservation or construction safety are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various conditions, including exposure to weather elements and navigating through construction sites.
