Horizon Swimming, located in Thousand Oaks, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Age Group Coach. The candidate will work with our Tokyo Group, the most competitive group within our Age Group program.

Horizon Swimming is a year-round competitive swim team located with locations in Westlake Village, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks. Our team has just over 200 athletes and consists of swimmers 7 years of age and older with group levels from novice to elite. Our core values of Accountability, Discipline and Unity drive every decision we make both in and out of the pool.

Horizon strives to develop swimmers into upstanding young individuals and build our families up as a tight-knit community. We are committed to athletic excellence while providing a positive, educational, and healthy environment for all members.

Qualifications:

  • College Degree, or working toward it. (preferred)

  • Be able to pass a pre-employment background check.

  • Strong knowledge of stroke-mechanics, technique fundamentals, and training methods for developmental and competitive age group swimmers between the age of 10-14.

  • Strong background in competitive swimming.

  • Candidates must possess integrity, strong communications skills; and a passion for helping swimmers maximize their potential.

  • Proficiency in Team Unify Software is a plus.

  • Availability to work evening hours on weekdays, and weekend hours for competitions.

  • US Citizen or employment visa to work in the USA.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Position Requirements & Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement appropriate seasonal plans in accordance with Horizon Swimming’s training philosophy to further develop the potential of the swimmers of all levels.

  • Write and direct structured age-appropriate workouts focusing on improving technique, while increasing speed and endurance.

  • Provide constructive feedback to swimmers at practices and following races at meets.

  • Keep detailed and accurate records as needed including attendance, work-outs, and swimmer progression.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all ages to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Attend swim meets, meetings, and team functions as assigned on the schedule. 

  • Assist with set up & tear down of all Horizon hosted meets

  • Must be patient, and an excellent role model for swimmers of all ages through appearance, language, demeanor and sportsmanship.

  • Must adhere to all rules, regulations and policies of USA Swimming,  Safe Sport, and Horizon Swimming.

  • Substitute for other coaches as needed.

 

Compensation:

Hourly wage range is $22/hour - $30/hour based on experience.
