Job DescriptionJob Description

The Fleet Manager is a DOT expert who serves as a safety/efficiency resource to a fleet of drivers with the goal of preventing risky driving behavior while improving efficiency. A major part of this role is maintaining a total understanding of driver responsibilities and state/federal regulations to best support your fleet in the safe and legal operation of their commercial vehicles. This is a perfect opportunity for active and semi-retired drivers who hold a current CDL and are looking to be home every night.

 

Fleet Manager Responsibilities include:

Ensuring proper maintenance and inspections are done on all vehicles.

Coaching on safe driving techniques with the help of Collision Mitigation Alerts (following distance, forward collision, roll stability, hard braking, etc.)

Investigating preventability of incidents/accidents involving company drivers and recommending corrective actions to eliminate re-occurrences

Identifying potential trends to be addressed in future training efforts

Recording and maintaining driving violations in risk management software

Providing e-log and hours of service training as needed

Sending safety messages and relaying weather reports to drivers

Monitor drivers using GPS system

Ensure drivers are doing delivering with minimum down time.

Manage Telematic System.

Keep record of company vehicles and drivers.

Maintain driver files.

Maintain vehicle maintenance files.

Register and update vehicles’ registrations.

 

Qualifications

2+ years of CDL Class A experience preferred.

3-year supervisory experience.

In-depth knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations – FMCSA, DOT

Highly organized and communicative – must be able to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally

Ability to perform in an environment with ambiguous situations, rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines

Proven record of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations

Basic computer literacy
