The Safety Director will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of safety programs for both client construction sites and shop floor operations. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, promote a culture of safety, and mitigate risks to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies:
- Create, update, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
- Develop site-specific safety plans for construction sites and shop floors.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites and shop floors.
- Document findings and ensure that corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Perform regular safety audits and risk assessments of construction sites and shop floor operations.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
- Training and Education:
- Design and conduct safety training programs for employees, including orientation for new hires and ongoing training for existing staff.
- Ensure that all employees are aware of safety policies and procedures.
- Accident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and produce regular reports for management review.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with new safety laws and regulations and implement changes as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and employees to promote a culture of safety.
- Communicate safety expectations and performance metrics to all levels of the organization.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve safety programs and procedures.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance safety performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a safety management role within the construction industry and manufacturing environment.
- COSS Certificate required, COSM Certificate
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices in the construction and manufacturing industries.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work with all levels of co-workers.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure. Passionate about promoting a safe working environment.
- Willing to travel 50% to client’s sites and manufacturing plants
