The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for building repair and maintenance, including tasks in but not limited to carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, painting, and mechanical trades. Other duties may include general maintenance and repairs to physical exterior and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment for visitors and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect building interior and exterior to determine any defects and recommend needed repairs.
- Perform electrical work, including, but not limited to, installing new electrical circuits, replacing or repairing fixtures and devices (e.g., lights, wall switches and outlets, metal halide, LED, and fluorescent bulbs, ballasts, breakers, fuses, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
- Perform plumbing work, including, but not limited to, installing new water/drain lines, repairing faucet leaks, and unclogging of drains with drain cleaning machines.
- Perform painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g., taping/ floating drywall, preparing surfaces, and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply textures, paints, wood and metal stud wall construction, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Communicate regularly with Facilities Maintenance Manager to provide updates, concerns, and/or feedback regarding routine tasks and projects.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on HVAC equipment.
- Ensure current and accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests, and expenditures.
- Follow a preventative maintenance schedule provided by the Facilities Maintenance Manager, and ensure proper inspections of mechanical systems are performed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required
- At least 3 years of related work experience is preferred
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools is required
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is required
- Valid Driver's License with good driving record is required
- General experience with machinery, scissor lift, and pallet jack preferred
