The perfect candidate for this role is somebody who enjoys hunting for stories, networking with sources, breaking news and writing exclusive, enterprising deep dives.


Working within the HHCN team, you will help shape our coverage in the areas of Medicare-certified home health care, private-pay home care, Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS), hospital-at-home models and everything else pertaining to health care’s shift into the home. The decentralization of health care with a focus on the home is one of the sector’s biggest trends. You’ll monitor the beat, cultivate key relationships, chase stories and collaborate with your team.


In addition to writing news and enterprising stories, you’ll play an important role in the development of HHCN’s podcast and in-person events, including FUTURE and the Capital+Strategy Conference. The reporter will occasionally (~once a quarter) work outside the HHCN team with colleagues on sponsored articles, white papers and other custom content.


HHCN – the largest brand within the WTWH Media Healthcare portfolio – is read by the top decision-makers at publicly traded and privately held companies delivering home-based care services. Readers also include industry investors, payers, health system leaders, technology partners and other stakeholders.


To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be organized, creative and self-driven. You’ll need to be comfortable with deadlines and have a track record for filing clean copy. You’ll need to maintain an ever-curious mindset, asking all the right questions that help you become an expert in our space.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with team members to report, write and publish copy daily
  • Assisting with the newsletter, working alongside the brand editor
  • Chasing down scoops and breaking news before other news outlets
  • Conceptualizing, researching, writing and editing content for industry audiences
  • Developing industry sources for stories and our events
  • Supporting the editorial team on special projects (including podcast production and event planning)
  • Attending industry conferences to establish and maintain contacts
  • Assisting with content distribution through email campaigns and other channels
  • Be open to exploring new technologies and learning everyday
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field preferred, but not required
  • 2+ years of reporting/editing experience
  • B2B experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to multitask, take new assignments in stride and learn something new each day
  • Desire to use new technology to its fullest
  • Demonstrated research and writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience using Wordpress, Mailchimp and/or Airtable preferred, but not required
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: intelligent, creative, accountable; able to recognize opportunities and take action with a high sense of urgency
