Job DescriptionJob Description

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial services of the organization, regulatory financial reporting, month end close process, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of all control policies and procedures. The Controller has direct supervision responsibility of all accounting staff ensuring department operational policies and practices are followed.


Essential Duties
• Monitors the day-to-day financial operations of the company - payroll, invoicing, payables, as well as other daily transactions.
• Prepares a monthly profit/loss statement(s).
• Prepares an accurate balance sheet monthly with full supporting detail.
• Prepares accurate cash flow statements and future cash projections monthly.
• Prepares financial reports on an ad hoc basis as required by management.
• Prepares timely and accurate sales and use tax returns and any other external reports as needed.
• Work with outside auditors on tax returns as well as coordinate all financial audits as required.
• Ensure that all financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other information required are accurate and timely. Make recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
• Ensure all legal, treasury, and tax documentation is properly maintained and secured, and that all statuary and fiscal reporting requirements are satisfied, which includes any governmental requirements for permits and licenses.
• Ensure adequate insurance coverage is maintained to protect the assets of the company.
• Ensure adequate controls are installed and maintained for the protection of the company assets against loss or misappropriation.
• Support a positive work environment of employee growth, development, and teamwork.
• Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
• CPA License preferred, but not required.
• Ten (10) plus years’ experience with progressive responsibility within accounting and finance roles
• Two (2) plus years managing other accounting functions within a department.
• Knowledgeable of accounting regulations and GAAP
• Experience using an ERP system with ability to extract data for analysis and reporting
