About Greentown Labs:

Greentown Labs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit accelerating climatetech innovation and commercialization by empowering entrepreneurs and enabling collaboration. As the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America—with locations in Somerville, Mass. and Houston, Texas—Greentown convenes the climatetech ecosystem to provide entrepreneurs the community, connections, and resources they need to thrive. Greentown is home to more than 200 startups and has supported more than 500 since its founding in 2011; these startups have collectively created more than 11,000 jobs and raised more than $5.7 billion in funding. For more information, visit www.greentownlabs.com or follow Greentown on LinkedIn.

About the position:

Greentown Labs recognizes the critical importance of capital raising for startups and the growing interest from investors in putting their capital to work in climatetech. The Investor Program is designed, through a series of regular initiatives and events, to educate both startups and investors and foster meaningful connections between both constituencies, with the goal of driving investment in our startup members and accelerating their growth.

The Director, Investor Program will be responsible for leading the delivery of the Investor Program across both Greentown locations, will spearhead the monetization of Greentown Labs' Investor Program, and will support Greentown’s startup members in making meaningful connections to a rapidly expanding ecosystem of climatetech investors and investment firms.

Primary Responsibilities of the Role:

Develop and Drive the Monetization of the Investor Program:

  • Strategic Monetization Planning: Craft and execute strategies to monetize the investor program, identifying and evaluating new revenue streams (including grant opportunities), creating pricing models, and leveraging partnerships to enhance profitability.

  • Revenue Optimization: Analyze program performance and market trends to optimize revenue generation.

  • Constituency Engagement: Engage with key groups, including investors, partners, startup members, and internal teams, to understand their needs and interests. Translate these insights into actionable plans that drive revenue growth while ensuring program sustainability and investor satisfaction.

Execute Investor Program Deliverables:

  • Independently manage a vibrant set of programming activities, including the investor newsletter, deal flow digest, investor speaker series, office hours, fundraising forum pitch practice sessions, investor roundtable lunches, and networking sessions connected to major events such as Sector Pitch Days and the Climatetech Summit.

  • Ensure all programs and activities focus on increasing opportunities for underrepresented founders to secure investment, maintaining a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Sit on the Member Pipeline Committee and advise the memberships team on prospective Greentown startup members.

  • Oversee junior employees and interns in executing and growing program deliverables, with strategic reviews conducted quarterly to improve benefits for Greentown’s members.

  • Manage reporting on KPIs for the Investor Program through Salesforce and other platforms, utilizing these reports during strategic review processes.

Cultivate Greentown’s Investor Network:

  • Manage all inbound investor inquiries and ensure relevant connections between investors and startups.

  • Conduct select outbound inquiries to identify new investment firms with a climate-focused investment thesis.

  • Manage the LACI Debt Fund relationship, including screening Greentown members for eligibility and the incubator partnership with LACI.

  • Support grant application and management for funding related to capital resources for member startups, including direct funding, pilots, investor resources, and fundraising software or platforms.

  • Collaborate with the partnerships team to manage corporate partners focused on investment opportunities and recruit potential new corporate partners as needed.

  • Work with Greentown’s executive team to develop and implement strategies for external representation to increase inbound investor and startup interest and networking/pitch opportunities for member startups.

Develop and Utilize Knowledge of the Greentown Member Community:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the technical nature and market potential of Greentown’s startups to best represent them to the investment community.

  • Maintain strong relationships with the startup community, acting as a key resource for startups’ capital needs and directing them to appropriate internal and external contacts.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Venture Capital Knowledge: Understanding of the venture capital landscape, including investment processes, market trends, and the specific needs and interests of climate-focused investors.

  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with diverse constituencies, including investors, startups, corporate partners, and internal teams.

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Demonstrated experience in setting and executing strategic plans to monetize programs and drive revenue growth, particularly within investment or entrepreneurial ecosystems.

  • Program and Project Management: Strong track record in managing and scaling programs and projects, ensuring successful delivery of diverse initiatives and activities.

  • Technical and Market Expertise: Passion for and knowledge of the climatetech sector, with the ability to understand and articulate the technical and market potential of startups, effectively representing them to investors.

Compensation, Location, and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $93,000 and is commensurate with experience up to $111,000. In addition to a competitive salary, Greentown Labs also offers a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan, and 25 days (5 weeks) of PTO plus holidays.
