Currently, we are looking for a bookkeeper to manage the office’s daily financial tasks and routines. We are seeking a candidate who would like to manage the economic aspects of a small law firm. Those aspects include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, payroll taxes, client billing, and performing other accounting duties as required (see below). A degree in accounting or business is preferred. The benefits and salary are commensurate with experience.

Bookkeeper responsibilities:
  • Data entry of attorneys’ billing time and sending invoices to clients.
  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Match purchase orders with invoices
  • Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management
  • Monitor office expenses and tally and enter cash receipts
  • Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances
  • Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets
  • Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, operating and business taxes
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Prior banking experience or experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
  • Experience with MS Office, prior experience in SAGE Accounting or other accounting software is a plus
  • Experience in services related to payroll such as writing checks and submitting payroll taxes
  • Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations
