Summary: The Assistant Controller will be responsible for helping the Corporate Controller with planning, directing, and coordinating accounting operational functions, including Accounts Payable, Billing and Collections.

Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary supervisor for accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.
  • Evaluate and maintain accuracy of general ledger system.
  • Analyze financial records and consolidate financial statements.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assisting with regulatory reporting, including US Census surveys, state business licenses
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Assist the budget process and forecasts, as necessary.
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Provide support to Controller and CFO during audits by bank and other outside auditors.
  • Primary contact between the accounts payable group and other departments within the company, especially purchasing, maintenance engineering and production.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or other related discipline required
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • 3-7 years significant, direct, and practical accounting experience required, preferably in a similar role in food/beverage, consumer products, or other manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Prior supervisory experience, preferably with more than five direct reports

  • Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks and removing obstacles.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex sets of data and make business recommendations based on analysis.
  • Exceptional understanding of IT systems and electronic communications within manufacturing finance required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business processes and cycles and ability to maintain the integrity of confidential business information.
  • Effective negotiation skills and ability to develop good working relationships with other team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and in a variety of cultures.

Language Skills:

  • English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be beneficial based on business necessity.
