JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective:

The Panel Prep Team Lead tends complex machinery, equipment, and administration with the goal of maintaining high standards in safety, product quality, productivity, and their continual improvement. They are responsible for workplace organization, cleanliness, and teamwork along with leading the panel prep team in these efforts. The Panel Prep team handles all aspects of panel preparation outside of the production of the panel itself, including but not limited to: CPS core prep, slideout routing and beveling – this list is not all inclusive

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Drive improvements in day-to-day operation and performance
  • Train and work with Panel Prep Team
  • Monitor team performance and report on production metrics to supervisor
  • Manage team members to be engaged during their shift
  • Ensure completion of required paperwork and compliance with lot control measures
  • Identify training needs, provide coaching, and review training records with supervisor
  • Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve and issues or conflicts
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members
  • Provide goals and objectives to team, and provide feedback based on goal attainment
  • Communicate progress of projects to supervisor.
  • Stay informed on the policies and expectations of Vixen Composites and Airxcel
  • Oversee and maintain consumables inventory needs of factory supplies and communicate them to supervisor

Characteristic Duties:

  • Abide by established corporate workplace policies on safety, attendance, standard operating procedures and any other guidelines
  • Reliable attendance and performance, willing to work overtime as necessary
  • The ability to effectively interface with operators, supervisors, engineers, material handlers, maintenance, and others within the organization
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and pride should be demonstrated at all times when working as a team or independently and in all aspects of the job
  • A desire to learn and master all aspects of the position and machine operation along with applying a problem-solving aptitude in all aspects of the job
  • The ability to work in, support, and contribute to a lean manufacturing environment. This includes 6-S practices, cross-training, data collection, problem solving etc., as well as the continual identification and implementation of improvements to safety, quality, and productivity
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform other duties assigned to full accountability
  • Display and enforce a “Safety First” mentality and workplace

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Work Environment: This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, crane, forklifts, and production machinery. Noise such as warehouse equipment and machinery. Chemicals, solvents and fiberglass related to the day to day operation; This list is not all inclusive.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to speak and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, as well as, use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; maneuver in and around machinery on a frequent basis. Must pass respirator fit test. The employee may be required to lift/move items of at least 50 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Starting Pay: 27.00/hour. This is a full-time 2nd shift position and hours of work are 12pm to 10:30pm Monday through Thursday (10 hour shifts). Due to the nature and demands of this role, flexibility is required to work outside scheduled hours when overtime is necessary.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with set-up and operation of automated production machinery
  • Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing
  • Knowledge and experience with 5S/6S
  • Knowledge and experience with HMIS and SDS
  • Knowledge and experience with measurement instruments such as scales, micrometers, calipers, tape measure, calculator
  • Experience with leading small teams
