Position Summary:

The VP Corporate Controller and Treasurer reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for defining and executing world class accounting and financial reporting practices, internal controls, and adherence to GAAP. S/he is an energetic senior leader who will be a change agent that challenges the status quo from both an operational and team perspective. The ideal candidate likes to dig into situations where they can leverage their experience and capabilities to upgrade and implement new processes and structure. S/he will play a critical role in ensuring the company continues building a world-class finance function while partnering across the business to ensure systems and processes are running smoothly.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accounting Leadership:
  • Manage all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including account reconciliations, accrual schedules and general journal entries, ensuring that reconciliations are performed accurately and on-time.
  • Own the GL and recording of all business transactions, including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, while ensuring compliance with local accounting requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage day-to-day operational needs, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense management, and vendor management.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with GAAP standards and/or regulatory rules, including implementation of any changes.
  • Responsible for annual external audit preparation and oversight.
  • Lead, support, and develop the accounting team and management of talent including, motivating, coaching, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Process Optimization:
  • Oversee and direct documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Streamline, maintain, and improve processes and internal controls.
  • Lead accounting ERP build out and establishment of controls in ERP software.
  • Improve internal control environment to monitor transaction risk and financial exposure more efficiently.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting decisions in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.
  • Business Partnering:
  • Provide analysis and financial information to senior leaders to guide decision making.
  • Participate in development and tracking of capital and operating budgets.
  • Financial support for senior operations management and executive management.
  • Financial support and analysis for operations planning – e.g., accounting and tax impacts of sales opportunities.
  • Cash Management:
  • Responsible for Treasury function and compliance with loan documents.
  • Monitor and communicate cash position with daily, weekly, and monthly cash position and forecasts.
  • Coordinate preparation of bank audit materials and bank financial reporting.
  • M&A Support:
  • Participate in M&A analysis, planning, and due diligence.
  • Oversee accounting integration of acquisitions.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environment.
  • ERP implementation and transition experience highly desired.
  • Experience in establishing and successfully implementing internal controls, accounting policies, and financial systems.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, able to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making.
  • Experienced business partner, skilled in building trust and inspiring others while ramping up in a new business and role in a complex environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration (preferably in Accounting or Finance) from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance is highly desired.
  • CPA/CMA license.
  • Big 4 or large regional accounting firm experience.

 

Travel: None.

 

Language: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time working with a computer.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 20lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, or walking.
