Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Compliance Specialist to join our team in Vernon, CA. The ideal candidate must be bilingual and will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety, managing new hire processes, and maintaining accurate records. This role is critical in promoting a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Tasks:

  • The safety Compliance Specialist will greet all new hires during the 1st shift and ensure the completion of new hire packets, including GMP’s, Arbitration, and Confidentiality agreements.
  • Enter new hires into the HR/Payroll database with minimal errors.
  • Distribute PPE to new hires, including bump caps, back belts, and boots.
  • The safety compliance Specialist will Conduct warm-ups with all new hires before turning them over to the department safety member, lead, or supervisor.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Follow up with all medical treatment-only claims and ensure injured workers attend their follow-up appointments with SMC or agency follow-ups.
  • Communicate with agencies about any incidents/injuries that occurred on the same day or upon arrival for the 2nd shift and Sanitation.
  • Enter injury information on Google Excel spreadsheet and keep it up to date.
  • Pick up documents from front office and inspect the first aid kit to replenish items.
  • Conduct safety walks 2-3 times daily to ensure that all department employees are working safely by communicating with the department safety committee member and the supervisor.
  • Address and coach any unsafe conditions or acts done by employees and communicate these to their supervisor.
  • Respond to safety-related emails and follow up with maintenance.
  • Follow up with COVID cases and conduct investigation processes.
  • Update the Gantt Chart regularly.

Weekly:

  • The safety Compliance Specialist will conduct safety inspections, collect all scans, and forward them to maintenance by Thursday morning.
  • Every Monday, follow up with Fernando to review the list of pending and completed items from the weekend.
  • Assist in the training of machinery in all departments.
  • Every two weeks, submit the inventory of boots and back supports with the help of the HR Clerk.

Monthly:

  • Conduct tailgate meetings on safety and other HR-related issues.
  • Manage equipment orders, including shipping and other employee needs (refrigiwear gear).

Quarterly:

  • Take inventory of equipment.
  • Submit an inventory report every first week of April, July, October, and January to the Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a safety or HR-related role.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
