Freight Broker

Objectives of the Position

This role requires the main objectives of Covering Drayage and Full Truckloads, Negotiating the best rate while looking for consistent capacity. Additionally, building the local carrier base to ensure capacity in needed lanes.

Principle Accountabilities

• Develop new and grow existing carrier relationships (lead generation, cold calling, and referrals).
• Build strong working relationships with carriers in assigned regions.
• Negotiate with carriers for the appropriate purchase rate to meet revenue and profit margin goals, as well as to facilitate an appropriate business relationship with the carrier.
• Manage all freight in transit by obtaining adequate updates from carriers/drivers to monitor movement and ensure on-time delivery.
• Maintain constant contact with carriers to secure additional truck capacity and manage existing business agreements.
• Proactively communicating service failures to internal support teams to minimize service failures, promote on-time service and ensure safety.
• Maintains ongoing relationships and monitors activities with customers and prospects.
• Aiding the Director of Logistics with research for new or existing business development
• Responsible for posting any available freight not in the system to the necessary load boards.
• Call customers when necessary to advise shipments delay and/or information necessary to
• Send all new carrier our Rhenus Carrier Pack and document to set the carrier up on ROCS and SAP
• Work Closely with the local Sales team to ensure consistent and clear communication of the customer needs

Education & Work Experience Requirements/Skills

• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Must have strong customer service and organizational skills.
• Able to communicate at all levels of management.
• Good computer skills / typing
• Understanding of Load boards / carrier 411
• Good at Multitasking
• General understanding of the market
