Summary

The Electrical Business Development Professional is responsible for strategic business planning and growth, client development (contractors engaged in public works projects and local municipalities), and successful collaboration within the organization.

 Job Tasks

·       Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to expand the company's commercial electrical services in the public works sector

·       Identify and target potential clients, with a specific focus on establishing strong relationships with general contractors involved in commercial public works and local municipalities. Utilizing multiple channels, including, but not limited to: Networking, social media, attending industry events email, campaign and cold calling efforts

·       Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends and upcoming public projects to identify potential business opportunities

·       Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to build a strong professional network and promote the company's services

·       Create compelling proposals, presentations, and marketing materials that showcase the company's capabilities and expertise

·       Regularly meet with potential clients to understand their needs, provide solutions, and address any concerns

·       Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with clients to secure new projects and maintain profitable relationships

·       Keep detailed records of all business development activities, including client interactions, bids, and outcomes, using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system

·       Prepare and provide regular sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed base expansion

·       Assist in various special projects as assigned

  Skills

·       In-depth knowledge of electrical services and systems relevant to public works and local municipalities

·       Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. 

·       Strategic business and sales planning

·       Client development and relationship management

·       Critical thinking and active problem-solving

·       Use financial statements and performance metrics

·       Be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

 

   Experience and Education

·       Estimating experience construction (2+ years) 

·       4+ years of continuous company commercial construction sales experience, evidenced by a proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and business development goals

·       Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or any generally accepted principle of strategic planning, marketing, and business development is preferred but not required.

·       CCM and/or CPC preferred, not required.

 

  Other Requirements

·       Have an existing and well-established network of business within the general contractor community involved in public works and local municipal projects.

·       Able to travel locally and regionally, as required.
