We are seeking a Pulp & Paper Project Engineer to be responsible for planning, managing, and executing capital and process improvement projects within the mill. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, and external contractors, to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Engineer will oversee all phases of project development, from conceptual design to implementation, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Pulp & Paper Project Engineer Responsibilities
  • Create detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation, to achieve project objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to execute projects, ensuring alignment with operational needs and strategic goals.
  • Conduct technical analysis, feasibility studies, and cost estimates to support project development and decision-making.
  • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, systems, and processes to improve mill performance and reliability.
  • Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on project status to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery, proactively addressing any issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to troubleshoot problems and optimize processes.
Pulp & Paper Project Engineer Position Requirements
  • 5 -7 years of experience in maintenance, engineering, project management and strategic planning
  • Strong process improvement and problem solving skill sets
  • Demonstrated results in the areas of strategic planning and project management 
  • Experience in operations and engineering leadership roles in heavy industrial manufacturing settings; paper industry experience highly desired
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Power Point and Project
