Position Overview

The Senior Project Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering technical expertise to the construction team. Key Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist project teams during preconstruction phases, including the bidding process and procurement.
  • Facilitate the development and management of subcontracts and purchase orders until completion.
  • Examine submittals and shop drawings for accuracy and expedite timely reviews.
  • Create, update, and manage tracking logs to report on various project requirements.
  • Support the permitting process, deferred submittals, and compliance with local authority requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to owner contracts, including notice obligations and required documentation.
  • Adapt company systems to align with owner-required systems for financial and project management.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent to monitor and update the project master schedule.
  • Review certified payroll reports from both the company and subcontractors as necessary.
  • Maintain current records of subcontracts and any revisions.
  • Upload and manage contract documents in Procore, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Participate in project meetings and site walkthroughs.
  • Collect data and provide insights for management and cost reporting.
  • Foster positive relationships with owners, architects, designers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Support company-wide initiatives, including maintaining the subcontractor database and assisting in bid-day operations.
  • Contribute to the project closeout process by preparing as-built drawings and O&M documentation.
  • Set up initial project contacts and information in Procore.
  • Receive, review, and track the status of submittals.
  • Initiate and manage Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Assist in the preparation of bid packages.
  • Work with the superintendent to establish and monitor a procurement log for materials.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for project controls, including procurement logs and QA/QC forms.
  • Assist with the change management process, including pricing solicitations and owner change orders.
  • Track and inspect the delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Compile reports on the financial performance of the project.
  • Prepare monthly project status reports for owners as required.
  • Attend project meetings and document minutes.
  • Distribute meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Capture daily/weekly progress photos of the project in coordination with the project superintendent and upload to Procore.
  • Assist the superintendent with site orientations and document control.
  • Support the superintendent in tracking and resolving non-conformance issues identified during inspections.
  • Collaborate in the project close-out process with the project assistant and PM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related engineering field, or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a construction support role.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, Project, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management abilities, with a focus on multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills, utilizing tools such as PowerPoint or Prezi.
  • Experience with financial and construction project management software, including Sage 300 CRE and/or Procore.
  • Customer-oriented approach with a professional demeanor.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
