We're currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a leading medical equipment manufacturer in the Itasca, IL area. You will play a vital role in handling all aspects of mechanical engineering for their products, develop prototypes for the customer’s approval and ultimately finalize the design for manufacturing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related.
  • 4+ years of experience as a design engineer, mechanical engineer, product engineer, or related roles.
  • Experience designing highly precise parts, tight tolerances, or machines parts.
    • This could be working at an OEM or another medical manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of motion control or linear motion control in designs.
  • Designing with GD&T
  • Experience with 3D Cad Software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo)
    • Designing 3D solid models and prototypes
  • Experience with FEA, FMEA, analysis, and design of steel structures or weldments would also be a PLUS.

Responsibilities:

  • 70% of the time on the clock will be allocated to design work, other 30% will be involved in paperwork.
  • Primary role is to oversee the design process until the product is delivered to the customer
  • Handle all aspects of mechanical engineering for their products.
  • Designing every mechanical component and will frequently interact with their customers throughout the product qualification process.
  • Develop prototypes for the customer’s approval and ultimately finalize the design for manufacturing.
  • After the product reaches the manufacturing stage, they may need to make further adjustments
  • Use SolidWorks for 3D solid modeling/prototyping
