Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role initially serves as the next level of support beyond the traditional help desk services, focusing on in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis of technical issues encountered in our customer solutions. The candidate will collaborate closely with our help desk team to investigate and resolve complex challenges, with a focus on enhancing system reliability and performance building a base of knowledge to share and utilize.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support for our solutions deployed at customer locations.

  • Conduct thorough investigation, root cause analysis, and spot trends of system issues and collaborate with the help desk team as necessary.

  • Liaise with the engineering team to communicate findings and contribute to the development of problem solutions and preventive measures.

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues using available tools such as tcpdump, ping, etc.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to content delivery that utilizes mechanisms such as rsync and messaging systems like RabbitMQ.

  • Investigate hardware related issues regarding attached equipment such as thermal printers, barcode scanners, video displays, and audio output devices.

  • Utilize system and application logs to identify clues and patterns indicative of underlying problems.

  • Document and follow issues through to resolution, collaborating with the engineering and infrastructure teams as needed.

  • Familiarize oneself with a range of technologies including embedded Linux, Javascript frameworks, messaging system, databases systems such as Postgres) and various programming languages (C++, Python, Shell Programming, etc.) in use as part of the complete customer solution.

Qualifications:

  • A background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to think critically and solve complex problems.

  • Familiarity with a range of technologies. A Linux background is a must but other technologies such as programming languages, messaging systems, and databases are highly desirable.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with the cross functional teams.
