Job DescriptionJob Description

The Food Grade Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing food-grade machinery and equipment in a fast-paced environment. The technician ensures that all equipment is in optimal working condition, complying with food safety and quality standards. This role involves both preventive maintenance and on-the-spot repairs to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of food-grade equipment, including mixers, conveyors, packaging machines, and refrigeration units.

- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems related to production equipment.

- Respond promptly to breakdowns and ensure repairs are made in a timely and safe manner. - Conduct preventive maintenance activities to prevent equipment failure and ensure equipment longevity.

- Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with food safety standards and regulations (e.g., GMP, HACCP).

- Collaborate with production staff to identify recurring issues and implement permanent solutions.

- Document maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and downtime.

- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and work with purchasing to order replacement parts as needed.

- Work safely and adhere to company health and safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.


Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.

2+ years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a food manufacturing or food processing environment.

Strong understanding of food safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Experience with welding, plumbing, electrical systems, and refrigeration is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.


Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

- Capable of working in various environments, including hot, cold, and wet conditions.
