We are seeking a Communication Specialist and leverage your expertise in public affairs and media relations with experience in crafting compelling narratives, managing media relations, and shaping public perception to advance the agency's goals. Your contributions will directly support vital governmental initiatives, allowing you to play a key role in policy communication and public engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement strategic communication plans to support the agency’s goals and initiatives.

- Draft, edit, and disseminate press releases, statements, and other communication materials.

- Arrange and coordinate media interviews with agency representatives.

- Pitch potential news stories to media outlets and work to secure media coverage.

- Monitor and analyze media coverage to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies.

- Foster and maintain strong relationships with media representatives and key stakeholders.

- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.

- Manage crisis communication efforts as needed, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.

Required Qualifications:

- A minimum of three years of professional experience in public affairs, media relations, or communications within federal, state, or local government, or related fields.

- Demonstrated expertise in drafting and editing press releases, arranging media interviews, and pitching news stories.

- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise messages.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency in media monitoring and analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Educational background or professional experience in public affairs, legislative affairs, health care, public health, workforce development, and/or domestic policy.

- Experience in crisis communication and issues management.

- Knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication strategies.
