Powertrain Calibration Engineer

Location: Auburn Hills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in calibration and/or powertrain development
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engines
  • Strong knowledge of SI combustion process
  • Understanding of base engine, aftertreatment, and/or hybrid electronic control system strategies; knowledge of software logic implementation and control system functionality
  • Experience using commercially available calibration and development tools (i.e., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, Matlab/Simulink)
  • Experience leading technical project teams and mentoring team members
  • Project leadership experience, analytical problem solving, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Professional communication skills (oral and written English)
  • Must be a motivated team player ready to perform in a fast-paced development environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of control strategies employed on Bosch and/or GPEC controllers
  • Knowledge of hybrid powertrain systems
  • Experience in aftertreatment system calibration
  • Strong understanding of US emission regulations and certification test procedures
  • Understanding of US OBD regulations and monitoring approaches
  • Exposure to hybrid system controls
  • Hands-on experience with engine hardware – engine assembly or rebuilding
