The Catering Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes for events, ensuring food quality and safety. They work with the catering manager and event planners to create menus that suit the event’s requirements and ensure that all food is prepared in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare food for catering events, including appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts.
- Ensure food is prepared to the highest standards in terms of taste, appearance, and presentation.
- Follow recipes and adjust quantities to cater to large groups.
- Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient cooking station.
- Prepare food in advance, storing it properly to ensure freshness for the event.
- Monitor food supplies and ingredients, placing orders as necessary to ensure availability for upcoming events.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including the proper handling, storage, and cooking of food.
- Work with the catering team to coordinate food service at events, ensuring timely delivery and serving.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of catering events, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Handle last-minute changes or requests with a professional and adaptable approach.
- Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is in working order.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in catering or large-scale food preparation.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and cooking techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing time and resources efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food quality and presentation.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to handle large volumes of food preparation with precision and efficiency.
- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Culinary training or degree preferred.
- Food handling certification is required (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Previous experience in catering or food service is strongly preferred.
