  • Shift: Afternoon Shift: 3:15pm-11:45pm & Midnight Shift: 11:30pm-7:15am



The Process Technician sets up and monitor the injection molding of plastics parts for optimum performance.

Responsibilities:

· Set and start molds and required auxiliary equipment for new production run as outlined in the work instruction for parts to be produced to production specifications

· Understand role of Inspector, Auditor, Material technician

· Able to perform facility start-up and shutdown

· Communicate with maintenance, tool room, and production personnel to achieve productivity targets

· Respond to quality assurance requests for corrective action by performing and documenting process adjustments

· Perform job changeover by removing and storing tool and auxiliary equipment to prepare machine for next production run

· Assist with the start-up and shutdown of all processing equipment

· Investigate malfunction of machines, equipment and process and take appropriate corrective action

Must be able to work extended hours and holidays and swing shifts as needed

· Conduct safety checks on all machines and processes to ensure their safe operation

· Assist with the training and certification of all production workers and monitors their ongoing performance to maintain quality standards

· Understand company policies and procedures and enforces safety regulations

· Maintain and document required data on production, processing and training

· Maintain the work area through good housekeeping and safety practices in accordance to 5S standards

· Assume shift supervisory responsibilities as needed

· Implement and/or assist with improvements in the operation of injection presses, material handling, part containment, pickers, granulators, and tooling

· A physical change to the molding process, staying within the process limits established by the Process Engineer

· Follow proper Set-Up & Tear Down procedures

· Respond to quality assurance requests for corrective action by performing and documenting process adjustments

· Document all process changes and/or molding problems on Job History Log.

· Perform daily Safety Checks and mold cleanings.

· Accurate entries of all transactions in IQMS.

· Maintain shifts 5S responsibilities

· Seeks to continuously improve all work processes through teamwork and cooperation with all co-workers

· Seeks to improve Communication and Teamwork in all interactions with co-workers

· RJG start/shut down procedure

· Have the authority to stop shipment and stop production to correct quality problems

· Maintains assigned SPA (Single Point of Accountability) area, including clarity of expectations to others

· Responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are met

· Other duties may be assigned, as needed


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education/ Experience

· Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 4-year minimum related experience or training


Skills

· Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

· Able to write routine reports

· Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret charts and graphs.

· Must be able to maintain valid industrial forklift license

· Knowledge of injection molds & mold processing


Physical Demands

· Must be able to stand, walk, use hands & fingers, reaching with hands & arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.

· Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.

· Requires good vision (Close, Color, Peripheral and Depth) correctable to a minimum of 20x40.
