 SUMMARY:


Position          : Student Support Interventionist

Description     : As a Student Support Interventionist in our school setting, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and behavioral success of our students. Your primary responsibility will be to provide targeted interventions to students exhibiting challenging behaviors, ensuring their integration and success within the classroom environment. Collaborating closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff, you will implement strategies, accommodations, and supports to facilitate positive outcomes for both students and teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:                              

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, behavior analysis, or related field is required (master’s degree is preferred).
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and behavioral challenges in a school or educational setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments to identify the underlying causes of student behavior.
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to individual student needs.
  • Provide direct intervention and support to students to address challenging behaviors and promote positive alternatives.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Model and reinforce positive behavior management techniques for teachers to implement in the classroom.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.
  • Offer guidance and strategies to teachers to effectively manage student behavior and promote engagement.
  • Conduct workshops or training sessions on behavior management techniques and evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement classroom-wide behavior management systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of behavior incidents, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and inform decision-making regarding student support strategies.
  • Prepare reports for stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and parents, detailing student progress and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including special education staff, counselors, and administrators.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding student progress, concerns, and successes.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and individual student planning sessions.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Good listening skills with superior relational skills
  • Ability to use computers including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, families, students, community members, local and state agencies.
  • Safeguard confidentiality of student records.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
  • Moderate travel is required.
