Position Overview:

This is a 12-month full-time role focused on enhancing student experiences and outcomes.

ROLE OF THE HEAD OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES:
The Head is tasked with overseeing the seamless operation of the Student Support Services. This department is dedicated to delivering essential support mechanisms aimed at fostering both the academic and personal achievements of students.

The services provided include case management and counseling, academic advising and enrollment assistance, testing services, course placement, substance abuse education, attendance and grade monitoring, career counseling, prerequisite tracking, and online tutoring.

This position is directly accountable for the coordination of counseling services, mental health initiatives, and the management of ADA accommodations for students with disabilities.

The Head is expected to actively lead and engage in:

academic advising, case management, personal counseling, career guidance, basic skills evaluation, student outcomes assessment, special needs services, and related support services.

It is essential to demonstrate a profound sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Provide crisis intervention and support services as needed.

The Head is required to communicate effectively about the college's advising and counseling initiatives with various stakeholders, including:
students, faculty, parents, administration, and the community.
