Position Summary

The Frayser Community Connector is the program manager for Frayser Connect, a community outreach and building arm of Frayser CDC. In this role, the Connector is responsible for engaging with the larger Frayser Community, cultivating and building strong community partnerships, managing a team of resident ambassadors who each lead programming that is responsive to residents’ needs, and leading sustainability efforts for Frayser Connect through revenue generation strategies.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Resident Engagement

    • Use multiple channels and strategies to engage and elevate the voice of Frayser residents, including historically difficult-to-reach populations (e.g. residents of apartment complexes). 

    • Staff and support the Neighborhood Advisory Board, which provides guidance to Frayser Connect staff and serves as a liaison to the FCDC Board of Directors. 

    • Coordinate the development and maintenance of an annual calendar of community programs and events (both hosted and presented by partners) to build the social capital of residents and respond to their needs. 

    • Plan and implement a comprehensive communications strategy, including the monthly newsletter (distributed digitally and physically); social media channels; and the traditional media.

  • Partnership Development

    • Direct and coordinate the activities of the Connect Center and other spaces owned by FCDC.

    • Identify and onboard FCDC space tenants for coworking and/or events, driving toward 100% occupancy. Ensure tenants and hosted partners are appropriately served and FCDC spaces cultivate a welcoming, vibrant environment for Frayser. 

    • Develop formal collaboration plans annually with Frayser Connect’s funded partners (Epicenter, RISE, and Forward Memphis) to include a calendar of joint activities.

    • Meet with partners monthly to evaluate progress, resolve challenges, and share successes. 

    • Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with new and existing community partners from inside and outside Frayser, including churches, nonprofits, and government entities.

  • Planning & Sustainability

    • Work with the FCDC Executive Director to develop an annual work plan, including goals, milestones, and roles and responsibilities. 

    • Hire and supervise a team of Frayser Connect ambassadors to ensure their duties and activities support the work plan. 

    • Work with the FCDC Executive Director to develop and implement a sustainability plan for the Connect Center, including identifying and writing grants; increasing revenues through tenants and special events; and other fundraising strategies. 

    • Develop and implement data tracking and evaluation tools (or use/enhance existing tools) to measure the effectiveness of Frayser Connect’s communications, programs, and partnerships. 

    • Monitor Frayser Connect budget; identify, secure, and maintain grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum five years community and/or nonprofit experience

  • Great communication skills

  • Ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders

  • Excellent management and team-building skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Frayser resident preferred

Pre Purchase Counseling:

Pre purchase counseling is designed to help you determine if home ownership is right for you, how much house you can afford, understand and improve your credit score, and save for a down payment. We also provide guidance on down payment assistance sources and good mortgage lenders.

Post Purchase Counseling:

Provides you with helpful tips to protect and maintain your home, teaches you preventative maintenance procedures and budgeting strategies for maintenance and repair, review resources for home repair and improvement, as well as helping you understand property taxes and home insurance.

Prevent Foreclosure/Eviction:

Counseling services that will help you retain and sustain your home, teach you about financial options, assist homeowners with avoiding foreclosure, renters with understanding their rights and responsibilities, and providing both with resources to transition from home ownership to rental housing.

Commercial Revitalization:

The CDC owns 7 commercial properties and has numerous partnerships with small businesses in 38127.
