RBW Companies is dedicated to the design, fabrication, sales and marketing of custom metal solutions in a broad range of industries. The designer’s role will be to assist in all stages of design; from concept and planning to manufacture and delivery.

Job Location: Tempe, AZ

Job Type:  Full-time

Responsibilities:

·         Create robust 3D models in SolidWorks using efficient, best practice, modeling techniques

·         Make alterations and revisions to existing design files

·         Generate detailed CAD drawings and documentation that effectively communicates design intent. Types of drawings to include but not limited to: parts, assemblies, BOM’s etc.

·         Update and maintain older documentation to reflect changes to design or production processes

·         Utilize SolidWorks design tables to efficiently generate models with multiple configurations

·         Prepare, edit, and assist with CNC programs in support of production team

·         Maintain strict file organization and transfer standards held between Arizona and Illinois plants.

·         Use measuring tools like tape measures calipers and gauges to accurately recreate parts and models as needed

·         Estimate design time and manufacturing costs to facilitate the preparation of quotes

·         Assist in vendor sourcing and procurement as necessary

·         Take a hands-on approach to drive the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes and first articles to meet customer deadlines

·         Set quality control standards to ensure parts are made to specifications

·         Communicate with customers and the sales team through all stages of the design process and adapt to changing requirements to arrive at effective manufacturing solutions

·         Identify inefficiencies and make recommendations for tooling, equipment, or process improvements to promote lean manufacturing and a safe working environment

·         Foster a continuous improvement attitude towards every design and process

·         Build, promote and maintain a healthy culture centered around the company's core values

 

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

·         Recent SolidWorks experience and proficiency with the latest sheet metal tools

·         3+ years proven experience in the same or similar role

·         Strong aptitude for creating clear, detailed blueprints and instructions for mechanical designs

·         Must have a general knowledge of engineering and manufacturing support principles, practices, techniques, and standards including ASME Y14.5

·         Must have general knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment employed in sheet metal/wire fabrication and weldment design

·         Attention to detail, highly organized, and able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced dynamic environment

·         A self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

·         Prior CNC programming experience a plus but not required (AP100, Dr. ABE)

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communications ski

Schedule:
