Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Billing & Collections Specialist to join our team in Canton, OH. You will play a crucial role in our financial operations, ensuring efficient billing processes and collections for mental health services. You will report to the Accounting & Billing Supervisor and collaborate with a talented team to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Claims Submission:
- Generate weekly Incomplete Service Notes Report.
- Assist with appropriate claims coding and billing patients.
- Verify client billing data and correct errors before submission.
- Process claim production reports multiple times a week.
- Handle weekly and monthly billing in the absence of the Accounting & Billing Supervisor.
Billing:
- Utilize CPT coding, ICD coding, and HCPCS for mental health services.
- Manage billing data in electronic health records and process all mental health client billing.
- Review and correct rejected claims through clearinghouse and insurance websites.
Payment Posting:
- Review and process EOBs/ERAs, research, and resubmit denied claims.
- Prepare claim appeals and process payments received.
- Minimize claim denials to maximize revenue.
Collections:
- Call clients for collections and monitor aging reports for payment assurance.
- Interact with staff, clients, and agencies to resolve issues.
- Attend collection hearings as a representative of Pathway.
General Responsibilities:
- Assist Accounting & Billing Supervisor and participate in auditing processes.
- Provide feedback for process improvements and quality assurance.
- Communicate with clinicians and directors for reporting and updates.
- Attend biweekly billing meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Support front desk coverage as needed.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- At least two years of postsecondary education or equivalent work experience (5+ years) in medical billing, customer service, or collections.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs and general office practices.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences among children and families served.
- Working knowledge of ICD10 coding, CPT, HCPCS, EOBs, ERAs, and medical terminology.
- Experience in Commercial and Medicaid billing related to mental health services preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Automobile liability insurance and access to a well-maintained vehicle.
