Job Description

A Senior Behavior Therapist at Autism Matters provides on-floor support and clinical oversight to a caseload of 4-6 clients and their team of behavior therapists. This position is responsible for direct 1:1 and 2:1 individualized therapy services utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principals, while also ensuring their team is providing high-quality services and maintaining treatment integrity. A Senior Behavior Therapist is supportive of their team, ethical, client-focused, and dedicated to best practice.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Be available to work a daily schedule of 8 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday. Autism Matters will review other availability and scheduling requests on a case by case basis.
  • EIDBI Level 1 or Level 2 provider.

Level 1: (must meet both bullet points)

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in one of the mental health professional disciplines or possess a master’s degree in a mental health field.
  • Possess 2,000 hours of clinical experience and/or training.

Level 2: (must meet one of the following criteria)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral or child development science or a related field one of the following: 1,000 hours of clinical experience, OR completed approved graduate coursework, OR be a BCaBA or RBT.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in one of the behavioral or child development sciences or related fields and will receive 1,000 hours of supervision.
  • 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Client-Focused Therapy

  • Maintains a caseload of 4-6 FTE Clients, providing 1:1 and 2:1 therapy utilizing behavior analysis principles.
  • Implements individualized treatment plans to improve clients' environmental interactions across various domains.
  • Employs consistent positive and proactive behavior management techniques, alongside reactive strategies based on clients' behavior plans.
  • Collaborates with programmers to monitor client progress and treatment plan goals.
  • Completes timely, effective documentation with minimal errors using CentralReach.
  • Applies supervisor feedback to enhance therapy and client outcomes.
  • Participates in Family Caregiver Training and Counseling as needed.

Oversight and Supervision

  • Directly supervises and provides feedback to behavior therapists using objective and subjective measures.
  • Supports team with clinical questions and ABA procedure application.
  • Conducts observations in individual or group sessions to assess skill application and procedural integrity.
  • Maintains client stimuli systems and oversees daily task completion.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary collaboration, client intake, and ongoing assessments.
  • Ensures proper implementation of medication policies and procedures.
  • Provides disciplinary warnings for safety concerns or policy violations when necessary.

General Responsibilities

  • Delivers direct services for 80% of scheduled hours.
  • Models professional demeanor and ethical behavior across all settings.
  • Upholds company values: client-focused, ethical, supportive, dedicated, and integrity-driven.
  • Adheres to ethical codes of supervising professionals (LPCC, BCBA, LICSW, etc.).
  • Manages time efficiently, demonstrating flexibility in meeting client, family, and agency needs.
  • Regularly attends staff meetings and trainings and participates in community outreach events.
  • Follows company policies and procedures, including opening/closing protocols.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Please note that this position involves physical activity such as near constant standing, bending, lifting, and assisting clients with prompting.
