Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Data Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups, and will be responsible for identifying and resolving financial discrepancies. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Data Analysis:
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Utilize advanced Excel functions to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
    • Prepare financial reports and present findings to management.
  2. Discrepancy Identification and Resolution:
    • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and variances.
    • Collaborate with various departments to understand the root causes of discrepancies.
    • Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future discrepancies.
  3. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
    • Prepare and distribute regular financial reports and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
    • Document processes and findings to ensure transparency and facilitate audits.
  4. Process Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvement within financial data analysis and reporting.
    • Recommend and implement best practices to streamline financial data processes.
    • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data analysis tools and techniques.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with finance team members and other departments to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
    • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
    • Provide training and support to team members on Excel and data analysis best practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial data analysis or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other advanced functions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain a positive outlook and shift priorities as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is required.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL and database management.


Physical Demands (to include but not limited to)

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, mouse, office equipment, telephones, etc. which requires frequent use of hands and fingers to operate.
  • Sit for long periods of time working at a desk, boardroom table, or at a computer.
  • Reading and analyzing data on computer screens and printed reports, which requires good vision or appropriate corrective measures (glasses/contact lenses).
  • Regular communication via phone, video calls, and in person meetings, which may require clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Walk long distances across shop floor to communicate and gather information as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 20 pounds without assistance.
  • Occasional reaching overhead and below knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
