Job Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, this position will assist in planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating the psychiatric nursing program. Typical job functions include:
  • Advising medical staff, department heads and administration in matters related to nursing service.
  • Assists in establishing the goals and objectives of the nursing department and coordinating the activities of the nursing department with other hospital activities. 
  • Assists in establishing and monitoring QA nursing department standards, policies and procedures for acute and long-term psychiatric nursing units.
  • Handling scheduling, staffing, auditing timesheets, and assisting in personnel matters, including but not limited to disciplinary actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
  • $85,000 annually ($40.86 hr.)
  • Primary working hours: M-F, 8 am to 5pm. 
  • Full Time
  • Exempt
Education and Experience Requirements:  Valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and four (4) years of professional nursing experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
OR a bachelor’s degree in nursing and three (3) years of professional nursing experience, two (2) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
OR a master’s degree and two (2) years of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity.

About us: Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK is a community-based center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. The inpatient and outpatient services they provide include special groups and programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, seniors and older adults, women, men, and criminal justice groups.

Special Requirements: Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position. Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.

Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing:  Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.
