Position Summary

The Family Service Advocate supports Creative Child Care, Inc.'s mission by building, strengthening, and maintaining an equitable, comprehensive, and quality childcare and development system for children and families to integrate childcare services that serve the whole child and the whole family. S/He addresses social determinants of health and adverse childhood experiences that significantly impact children's long-term outcomes. They provide vital leadership and support to the childcare and development workforce and programs for children to access equitable and stable childcare and development opportunities. Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Health and Family Services, the Family Service Advocate supports the agency's mission, plan, and response to the needs of children and families in San Joaquin County.


The Family Service Advocate supports developing and implementing comprehensive service areas in federal and state funding source guidelines, including California Department of Education, Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards, Community Care Licensing regulations, and other funding sources. 


This position requires prolonged sitting in an office with a telephone and computer. This position requires daily use of a copier, telephone, computer, and general office equipment, as needed. This position may require a handcart to transport documents and equipment over 20 pounds (i.e., laptop, computer, projector, reference manuals, solicitation documents). The Family Service Advocate must be committed to maintaining a working environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment. S/He must maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, good working habits, and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.

Compensation:

$22 - $26.50 hourly DOE

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit and enroll children into the Creative Child Care program, ensuring compliance with program policies and guidelines, including confidentiality and ethical practices.
  • Orient parents to the program's comprehensive services, such as governance, health, education, and community partnerships.
  • Maintain regular contact with families to monitor their progress and provide support in meeting health and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate with school districts and community agencies to address the needs of families and children effectively.
  • Conduct in-person interactions with families during center operational hours and beyond, when necessary.
  • Assist families in accessing health and developmental screening tools and resources.
  • Coordinate and conduct visits with families in various community locations to provide necessary support and guidance.
  • Organize and facilitate parent meetings, including preparing agendas and providing necessary support materials.
  • Communicate effectively with families, teachers, and support staff to assess needs, exchange information, and address concerns promptly.
  • Participate in workshops, training sessions, and conferences to stay updated on best practices and resources.
  • Link families with appropriate referral systems and community services for additional support when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to families to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Plan and support local parent committee meetings to encourage parent involvement in the program.
  • Stay knowledgeable about database programs and complete required reports and follow-ups in a timely manner.
  • Share current and relevant resources with families and staff at training and community events.
  • Support the service delivery system in compliance with regulatory standards and funding requirements.
  • Ensure multicultural awareness and talent management in all interactions with children, families, and staff.
  • Use program expertise and data to develop and deliver presentations on family service issues.
  • Identify and provide support resources in the community for families during registration and transition services.
  • Update and maintain computerized database systems for efficient record-keeping.
  • Research current issues related to supporting families and promoting family well-being practices.
  • Stay current on family services and advocacy practices to enhance service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill the mission and objectives of Creative Child Care, Inc.
Qualifications:
  • Level I qualification for the Family Service Advocate position in Stockton, CA, US includes obtaining a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, a related field, or the Family Development Credential within 18 months of hire. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
  • Level II qualification for the Family Service Advocate position in Stockton, CA, US requires an AA/AS Degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field, along with one year of work experience in client casework and/or client eligibility setting. Additionally, within 18 months of hire, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, a related field, or the Family Development Credential is needed. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
  • Level III qualification for the Family Service Advocate position in Stockton, CA, US necessitates a BA/BS Degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field, coupled with one year of work experience in client casework and/or client eligibility setting. Within 18 months of hire, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, a related field, or the Family Development Credential is required. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
