As a Sales Engineer, you will be focused on developing new business within an assigned territory as well as retaining and developing business with existing customers. You will build excellent client relationships and drive sales results and use your sales expertise to help our customers realize their business goals with proven solutions. Autonomy, drive and desire to win are essential. We are looking for someone to take ownership of the entire sales cycle.

Location: MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL WITHIN THE FOLLOWING AREAS

  • Metro Detroit
    • This area includes Detroit to Flint – Detroit to Ohio state line – Detroit to Jackson

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Home Office
  • Daily travel to customers withing their region
  • Approximately up to 25% overnight stays

SALARY:

  • Base Salary + Commission based.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new business opportunities with both current and prospective clients.
  • Achieve or surpass annual sales objectives within designated territories and client accounts.
  • Conduct frequent client visits to assess needs, propose solutions, and gather comprehensive information for estimates and proposals.
  • Maintain active involvement in turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer initiatives to ensure
    timely completion within budgetary constraints.
  • Demonstrate and uphold an extensive understanding of the machine tool industry and the product lines offered by our company.
  • Utilize CRM to effectively manage all facets of prospecting and customer engagement.
  • Support marketing initiatives as required, including the design and preparation of catalogs, flyers, and other promotional materials for product launches, updates, and promotions.
  • Provide assistance and representation at off-site events, including trade shows, as necessary and feasible.
  • Implement cross-selling and up-selling strategies by deeply comprehending clients' value propositions, primary business objectives related to growth and profitability, and the industries they operate within.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills utilizing phone and electronic communications.
  • Ability to negotiate price and contract related items related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team within a fast-paced multi-faceted environment.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and multitask on multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Previous outside sales experience with manufactured equipment is preferred
  • Strong professional communication and presentation skills
  • Innovative approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a results-based environment.

KNOWLEDGE & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, industrial distribution, manufacturing or equivalent experience
  • Minimum (5) years’ experience selling and applying high performance cutting tools.
  • Must have knowledge or ability to learn Microsoft software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote.
  • Programming software knowledge preferred (MasterCam, AutoCad, Solid Works, etc.)
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable automobile transportation and current auto insurance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work on computers for extended periods of time.
  • Travel may be required at times for show support.
