Success Coach/Advisor

The Success Coach/Advisor will be responsible for working with high school seniors at high school(s) to promote and facilitate enrollment in and completion of post-secondary education by developing case management strategies and providing advising and educational planning, as well as admissions and financial aid counseling. The Success Coach/Advisor will office at and work closely with high school staff. During the summer, the Success Coach/Advisor will continue to assist their students as they bridge from high school to post-secondary plans.
Responsibilities
Promoting a college-going culture to both students and their parents through various activities
Providing educational planning and career exploration/information, including dual credit opportunities, to a diverse high school student population through structured individual and group meetings and advising sessions

- Assisting students with the development and updating of a career pathway
- Developing activities, events, and outreach efforts to promote student and parent engagement with the services available
- Coordinating closely with appropriate high school personnel and College dual credit coordinators
- Conducting intrusive advising services to motivate and encourage students, track their progress toward enrollment in the first semester of college, and connect them with needed internal and external resources
- Assisting students with college admissions and financial aid application processes
- Working with appropriate resource persons to provide students with information about post-secondary institutions and courses/programs
- Keeping abreast of current education practices
- Participating in the registration, student orientation, and other College activities during the summer months and as requested
- Limited evening and weekend work is required
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be an innovative self-starter with a passion for education
- Be well organized and thorough
- Be able to work well with little supervision
- Deal professionally and courteously with a diverse student and parent population, as well as employees of the College, the assigned school district(s), and external resource organizations/institutions
- Have general skills in keyboarding and computer usage
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation as travel within the College’s service area is required
- This is a 12-month position
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Safety:

The rate of pay for this position is $25 per hour, with a 20 hour work week. Worker’s compensation, a limited retirement plan are provided
