Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Engineering team and build out the next generation of our platform. The ideal candidate will play an important role in designing, developing, and implementing BPM solutions using the Appian Platform. They must be at ease working in an agile software methodology with little supervision. The candidate will be expected to participate in design discussions, brainstorming sessions and mentor junior engineers and adopt Appian best practices. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement, take initiative to resolve issues, and complete tasks with minimal guidance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop and debug Appian Self-Assembling Interface Layer (SAIL) Interfaces, Process Models, Expression Rules and Data types.
- Create appropriate test patterns for Expression Rules.
- Ensure that security features are included in software development activities.
- Collaborate with security engineers to incorporate NIST/RMF Standards.
- Provide ongoing maintenance support and enhancements to the existing system.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders, project managers, and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Work alongside other engineers on the team with strict attention to detail and help develop software from start to finish.
- Lead and/or support bi-weekly Sprint demonstrations for the customer
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- 10+ Years of software engineering experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of Appian Development or Hands-on experience working with Appian Self Assembling Interface Layer (SAIL) Interfaces, Process Models, Expression Rules and Data types
- Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
- Working knowledge of the JIRA project tracking tool.
- Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or other information technology-related field.
- 15+ of experience in private or government experience in software engineering/systems development in place of a bachelor’s degree in information systems, software engineering, or computer science.
- 8570- IAT Level II required or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Desired Skills:
- 2 years’ experience with other Low Code/No Code platforms
- Appian Certification (Associate, Lead or Senior)
- Experience with other programming languages (Java, Python, C++, C#)
- Experience with Appian Plugin development
- Experience with web development technologies (Node.js, React, HTML, CSS)
- Experience with any Relational Databases (MariaDb preferred)
- Experience with one of the following automated testing tools – FitNesse for Appian, Cucumber for Appian, or Appian Selenium API
- Experience with Operations and Maintenance of software applications
- Experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
