Simple Technology Solutions is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to add to our team.

Quick Position Overview:

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required
  • Minimum of 6 years' position-related experience is required

The Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer at STS, you will support NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) under the EED-3 contract. You will work in a fast-paced Agile development environment, focusing on the operations, design, and development of tools like the NASA Common Metadata Repository (CMR) and Earthdata Search Client (EDSC). Your work will involve leading the deployment of product updates, identifying and resolving production issues, and constructing scalable architecture that enables scientists and students to access and improve the quality of earth science data.

The Senior Software Engineer at STS will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for NASA's CMR and EDSC.
  • Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including networking and serverless services like Lambda and Step Functions.
  • Write and debug code in languages such as Python and JavaScript within an Agile development environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Implement front-end technologies and frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Lead the deployment of product updates and identify production issues.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 6 years of software engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including serverless services like Lambda and Step Functions.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience with front-end technologies and frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats and standards like GeoJSON, KML, and Shapefile.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.
  • Full life cycle software design and development experience on large/complex n-tier client/server applications.

Preferred Certifications:

  • AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certifications
