Job Summary:


The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for overseeing the billing process, including claims submission, denial management, and resolution. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely billing, identifying and resolving claim denials, and maintaining compliance with billing regulations and guidelines. The specialist will work closely with billing teams, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to facilitate efficient and effective billing practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies accurately and timely.
  • Review and analyze claim denials to determine root causes.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
  • Review medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing of services.
  • Assist with the resolution of billing issues and follow up with insurance companies and patients as needed.
  • Stay up to date with changes in billing and coding regulations and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Work closely with billing teams to streamline billing processes.
  • Communicate with doctors' offices to ensure the accuracy of patient information and billing codes.
  • Communicate with insurance companies and healthcare providers to resolve outstanding billing matters.
  • Generate reports on the status of accounts, including outstanding balances and claim denials.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing and coding is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing in a physician's office.
  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME) billing experience, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health records.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving billing issues and errors.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Working Conditions: The Medical Billing Specialist will work in an office environment and may be required to sit for extended periods of time. The candidate may need to occasionally work outside of normal business hours to ensure timely completion of tasks.
